An accident shut down Varner Road in Cathedral City temporarily after a car hit a power pole Sunday (01-10-10).
Traffic was moving again Monday on Varner Road in Cathedral City after a car hit and knocked down a power pole, backing up traffic.

The accident happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday on Varner Road east of Mountain View Road, according to Cathedral City Police.

A white sedan apparently drove off the street and struck the Edison power pole.

"The impact knocked the pole down and blocked both directions of traffic on Varner," police said.

No one was hurt in the crash and the road was re-opened by 3 a.m. Monday.
