A Riverside County sheriff's deputy was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife, authorities revealed Thursday.
Jaime Morales, 32, of Temecula, was taken into custody Aug. 24 for alleged battery on a spouse and assault with a deadly weapon, according to sheriff's officials.
Morales, who is assigned to the sheriff's Temecula station, allegedly attacked the victim on Aug. 23, while he was off-duty, said Sgt. Joe Borja. He declined to elaborate.
The suspect was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta and was released an hour later after posting $25,000 bail.
The case was referred to the District Attorney's Office, which is considering whether to file charges.
