Police asked for the public's help Tuesday in finding a man who shot and killed another outside of a grocery store in Desert Hot Springs over the weekend, and released video surveillance images in hopes someone might recognize the main suspect.
It happened at the Vons in the 14200 block of Palm Drive at around 11:00pm Saturday.
When police got to the scene, they found 45-year-old Tony "Chi-Lu" Chen in front of the store, still alive. He was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center where he later died. Chen had recently come to the area to work for the Agua Caliente Hotel in Desert Hot Springs, according to police reports.
Tuesday, police asked for anyone with information in this case to contact them.
"We are requesting additional witnesses come forward to help us solve this crime," said Sergeant Dan Bressler of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department. "If you think you saw the victim, Tony Chen, at any time Saturday, or think you may know the suspect, please call us. If you know Tony or have had recent contact with him please call us. You may remain anonymous if you wish."
The suspect in this case is described as a Hispanic man between 15 and 23 years old. He's about 5'9", light skinned, and has short cropped hair, according to Bressler.
He was last seen wearing dark colored baggie short sleeved t-shirt and a dark colored bandana, Bressler said.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
