Thousands of people from all over are flocking to the Palm Springs Convention Center for all things modern.

the 5th Annual Palm Springs Modernism Week kicked off Friday, 10 days filled with mid century modern furniture, fine arts architectural tours, film series and lots more.

With more than 40 events planned over a 10 day period from tours of celebrity homes, to vintage fashion shows Modernism Week attracts people from all over.

"It's neat to see that the city of Palm Springs has pulled together so many different events that people can enjoy to really understand the draw of mid century architecture and why its so important to the city of Palm Springs," said Torey Carrick.

Palm Springs has one of the largest concentration of mid century modern architecture in the world and for Dennis Boses who owns Off the Wall Antiques in Los Angeles that is why he has showcased his uniqe furniture and artwork at Modernism Week year after year.

"This is an exciting opportunity not only to meet new people but display marvelous merchandise with great background, things that no one has seen before, so every year its an exciting adventure to come down to Palm Springs and do that," said Dennis Boses.

Thousands of people come from all over to take part in Modernism Week, which is good for local businesses.

"Modernism Week is tremendous it's brought we have a lot of regular guests that come back the past few years for it so their here and their actually spending an entire week and sometimes you get two three night stays we've noticed our length of stays has increased of course because of the event," said Don Devine, General Manager of Guest services at Viceroy.

Barbara Marshall, the chair of the vintage fashion show says the goal of Modernism Week is to educate people on all that Palm Springs has to offer.

"We want them to take away we want them to be a little more educated on mid century art and architecture what Palm Springs has to offer," said Barbara Marshall.

Something new added this year to Modernism Week is a film series, now several of the events are free to the public. Modernism Week continues through February 21st.
