The Federal Reserve is launching a new ad campaign Friday, aimed at providing consumers with some credit card usage tips ahead of the holiday shopping rush.

The tips to be featured in the 45-second spot are:
  1. Pay on Time: Know the date your payment is due and pay your bill on time.  When you pay on time you can avoid late fees.
  2. Stay below your credit limit: if you don't, you can be charged a fee and your interest could be increased.
  3. Avoid unnecessary fees: Read your agreement.  it will explain what transactions will trigger fees.
  4. Pay more than the minimum amount due: Over time, you'll pay off the balance sooner.
  5. Watch for changes in your account: Credit card companies will notify you when they make changes to your account.  Read the 'change in terms' notices and then decide how you want to proceed with your account

It will run in 12 theaters that have been selected across the country, the closest of which is in Long Beach.  The ad will run from Nov. 27 through Dec. 3.

The advertisement also directs viewers to a website that explains the tips in further detail, which can be visited by clicking here.
