In the wake of the recent earthquake in Haiti local earthquake preparedness clinics have seen an increase in people.
Many people now more then ever want to be prepared in case the big one were to happen here.
"The bigger problem people have is in the first couple of minutes after an earthquake is they can't see and they can't maneuver in their own structure effectively."
"We want people to know first of all that we don't expect the devastation of the earthquake in the coachella valley like they had in haiti and we want to inform people about what they need to prepare themselves for an earthquake here," said Dick Bossi, Home Depot Special Events Manager.
"I need to find out simple things like how to turn off water and I just starting thinking about all those things," said clinic attendee Eileen Kramer.
The clinic informed people about the basic essentials they should have in their emergency kits such as canned food, water, flashlights and first aid kits.
Also at the clinic was the city of La Quinta's Community Emergency Response Team.
The Home Depot in La Quinta has these clinics every month.
If you want to attend a Home Depot earthquake preparedness clinic just check with the store in the city you live in.
