Two Desert Hot Springs men suspected of firing shots in a Desert Hot Springs neighborhood were free Monday after posting $25,000 bail.
Hector Manuel Mayorga, 20, Salvador Rios Mercado, 22, were arrested Sunday at a home in the 66100 block of Cahuilla Avenue, said Dan Bressler of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.
Officers responded at 10:35 a.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired in the area of Cactus Drive and Buena Vista Avenue, Bressler said. The officers subsequently determined the shots had come from the home on Cahuilla Avenue, according to Bressler.
As the officers were setting up a perimeter, three people emerged from the residence, but went back inside when they saw the police, the sergeant said.
They eventually ventured outside and were detained for questioning, Bressler said, adding that one of the suspects was subsequently released.
Police found a loaded rifle in the garage and two other guns in the house, he said. Street gang graffiti was also found in the garage, according to Bressler.
