Classic Yellow Cab will shut down after Labor Day weekend. That means the Coachella Valley will only have 130 Taxis instead of 180. The General Manager of Sunline, the group regulating the cab companies, does not anticipate a problem.

Already all four companies struggle to meet quotas.

"As we get into the season, our hope would be that the remaining three franchises will go up to the ten rides or even more which would be better for those companies," said Sunline General Manager Mike Oglesby.

Classic Yellow Cab Vice President of taxi operations said a slow summer was too hard for the company to manage.

Sunline says they are not planning on bringing in more cabs any time soon.

These situations are the cause of good people having to get behind the wheel while under the influence. Because the lack of public transportation and the expensive cost of using it. The county states it wants to decrease drunk driving, I say one way to reduce drunk driving would be to add more public transportation here in the Coachella Valley. More taxis, buses and cheaper fares. Bottom line is the county collects too much $ from DUI's and such to be able to better our public transportation.

American need new dispatcher that knows what there doing, 35 minutes and 2 calls to get a Taxi to Ralphs SR/Ramon, there is no reason that it should take any Taxi that long durning the week to pick up someone.

No great lost,on several occasions I took that Taxi Company and the driver's never had change for a $20 and I felt like I was being force to give them a $11 tip for a $9 fare.
