A brush fire that broke out Sunday near Beaumont and grew to 75 acres was 100 percent contained Monday, a county fire official said.
Full control was expected by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, said Cheri Patterson of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 3:55 p.m. Sunday in a field near Gilman Springs Road and Jack Rabbit Trail, said Patterson.
In addition to the fire, firefighters had to battle 96-degree temperatures, low humidity and 8 mph winds gusting to 25 mph, Patterson said.
Sixteen engines, three helicopters, two bulldozers and 140 firefighters fought the blaze, she said.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
