A wildland fire that broke out Saturday in Cherry Valley scorched about four acres, but no injuries were immediately reported, a county fire official said.

The fire was reported at 2:22 p.m. at Wildwood Canyon Road and Butterfly Drive, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Responding firefighters reported seeing about 12 acres burning at a moderate rate.

Seventeen fire engines, supported by four air tankers and two helicopters, were working to contain the fire.

No structures were immediately threatened, Hagemann said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
