A man wanted in Arizona for sex-related crimes was one of 13 people arrested Saturday during a city-wide warrant sweep in Palm Desert, a sheriff's sergeant said.
Officers from the Palm Desert Police Traffic Team began the sweep at 6 a.m. and attempted to serve 110 drunken driving warrants, said Sgt. Mike Bianco of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Officers also arrested Salvador Gonzalez, Jr., 30, of Palm Desert, who is wanted in Arizona on two felony warrants for sex-related crimes, Bianco said.
Gonzalez, Jr., was arrested and being held without bail at the Indio Jail.
During the eight hour operation officers also arrested 10 men and three women on misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs warrants. They were all booked into the Indio Jail, Bianco said.
The operation wrapped up about 2 p.m. Funding for the operation was provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the state Office of Traffic Safety.
