Palm desert police say this man attacked and raped an adult woman February 20th while she was walking on Parkview Drive.
The man had a weapon but police haven't said what he used.
The woman was walking around 1am when the man followed her and raped her.
He's described as hispanic, in his forties, 5'9" tall, about 160 to 170 pounds, with short hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
Lt. Andrew Shouse, with Palm Desert Police, say rape by a stranger hasn't happened in a long time.
Lt. Shouse said the information wasn't made public until now because police say they didn't want to compromise the investigation.
Now that they've exhausted all of their leads, police need the public's help.
This attack leaves Ally Kubalanka, a COD student, on edge, especially after hearing about the recent Chelsea King rape and murder case in San Diego.
"It is scary. It's hard to think about it that way but you have to really think it can happen to you," Kubalanka said.
"I'll let my kids know," said Beverly Vorwaller, who lives nearby. Vorwaller walks her dog on the same street and says it's usually busy but not early in the morning. She plans to alert her neighbors.
"There's plenty of places for people to lurk about so be on the lookout," she said.
Police say they are running through the local sex offender database to see if anyone matches the description.
