A distraught and armed man was arrested after barricading himself inside a home in the Indian Palms Country Club Friday.
The standoff with 36-year-old Christopher Kendll lasted almost seven hours. He reportedly had problems with family members, a divorce and lost job, and locked himself inside the home in the 82600 block of Hamilton Court just after 11 a.m.
He threatened to harm himself or anyone who tried to approach the residence, according to Police. Family members told police that the man previously served in the military and might have access to some explosives.
At 5:30 p.m., the SWAT team entered the residence and arrested Kendll without incident. No one was injured. Inside the home, police found five rifles, a handgun and shotgun.
Officers cleared nearby homes as a precaution and called for additional resources from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Kendll was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio and charged with discharging a firearm in or around a residence.
