Two people are dead after a motorcycle and car collide on Route 74 Sunday.
The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday just east of the Pinyon Pines fire station.
A 19 year old male from La Quinta was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound on Route 74, his passenger was a 20 year old female.
For unknown reasons the 19 year old lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the eastbound lane colliding with a motorcycle.
Two people were on the motorcycle, one was killed, a 62 year old man, William Kaplan, from Rancho Mirage. The passenger a 58 year old woman from Rancho Mirage was air lifted to Desert Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
The 20 year old female in the Toyota was also killed, the driver was air lifted to Desert Regional Medical Center.
The accident left the Pines to Palms Highway partly blocked between Anza and the Coachella Valley.
