A convicted sex offender recently released from prison to Desert Hot Springs was behind bars Monday after allegedly violating the conditions of his parole, police said.
Harvey Nile Eustis, 27, was arrested at Hot Springs Park at 10807 Palm Drive on Thursday at 11:41 p.m., said Sgt. Dan Bressler of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.
Eustis, who was convicted of having unlawful sex with a minor more than three years younger than him, had been released from prison on Nov. 8. A condition of his parole prohibited him from being within 100 yards of a city park, Bressler said.
An officer noticed Eustis in the park Thursday night and took him into custody, according to Bressler.
Eustis is being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside without bail.
