A day after a brush fire broke out in Riverside County, firefighters had it 100 percent contained.
Ten engines, 8 fire crews and one helicopter were assigned Thursday to the 65-acre fire burning near Murrieta in the La Cresta area, which started Wednesday afternoon.
"Full containment expected by noon today and full control estimated by 6:00 p.m," said Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.
Firefighters achieved just that-- as the fire was declared all contained at noon Thursday, according to Hagemann.
At the height of the blaze Wednesday, nearly 300 firefighters were called out to fight the blaze, along with 33 engines, 6 air tankers, 4 water tenders, 2 bulldozers and 2 helicopters, according to fire reports.
Also Wednesday, students had been stranded at Cole Canyon Elementary, Thompson Middle School and Murrieta Valley High School because of a road closure in the area.
All roads were back open Thursday, but Hagemann warned Clinton Keith Road may still be subject to escorts throughout the day.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
