Time now for our Neighborhood Crimetracker. Every week we look at some of the property crimes valley police departments are working.
We begin this week in La Quinta.
Police respond to a prowler call on the 52700 block of Ave. Navarro. They find a man trying to gain entrance to a home through a rear slider. He claimed he was trying to find his girlfriend. Cops didn't buy it and he was arrested.
And in the 78800 block of La Palma, police got a call that three squatters had taken up residence inside a bank owned property. They got a key from a realtor and entered. Inside they found three juveniles drinking and smoking marijuana. Their parents were called to the home.
Residential burglaries causing problems this past week in Cathedral City. On the 68000 block of Perlita a window was smashed on a home and a television was taken.
And on the 67000 block of Peineta, someone gained entrance to a home by an unknown method and stole appliances.
Palm Springs police public information officer Melissa Desmarais reports no brotherly love on the 1000 block of N. Gene Autry Trail. An Imperial Beach man apparently stole his own brothers truck and drove it to Palm Springs, where he ran out of gas. Police came upon the stranded vehicle, checked the registration and determined it had been stolen. The man is now under arrest.
And we wrap up this week's Crimetracker in Desert Hot Springs. An RV was broken into on the 66500 block of Acoma Ave. Tools and a cb radio were taken.
And a thief kicked in the front door of a home on the 13600 block of Luis Dr. A Nintendo wii, cash and two super mario brothers Nintendo games were taken.
