Every week we look at some of the property crimes Valley police departments are working. This week we begin in Desert Hot Springs, with proof that some crimes can be prevented.
Sgt. Dan Bressler of Desert Hot Springs Police department reports two young men were spotted entering the backyard of a home on the 13600 block of Cielo Azul Way. When police arrived they found that the back door of the home had been forced open. But, nothing was reported taken from the home. It appears the two would be thieves were scared off when the security alarm went off!!!
But sadly homeowners at 67900 Alexandria Court were not nearly as diligent in securing their property. They reportedly left a garage door unlocked, allowing the suspect to enter the house. An HP Envy laptop, Sony X-box 360, and GE Digital camera were taken.
Now over to Palm Springs on Crimetracker. Sgt. Melissa Desmarais reports a man was enjoying a swim at his apartment complex pool on the 400 block of E. Via Escuela. He looked up just in time to see two men driving away in his car parked nearby. Police think the man may have left his keys in the vehicle. At last report, the car had not been found.
And on the 2200 block of Paseo Gracia, officers responded to what was initially reported as a window smash residential burglary. The investigation revealed it was vandalism only, both the home and the owner's vehicle were damaged.
And we wrap up Crimetracker this week in Cathedral City. Officers there working a number of residential burglaries. A front door was forced open at a home on the 68000 block of 33rd Avenue. A television was taken.
And it was a rear door that intruders used to gain entry to a home on Coble Dr. A television was taken here as well.
