Time now for our Neighborhood Crimetracker. Every week we look at some of the property crimes valley police departments are working.
We begin this week in Indio, where police spokesman Ben Guitron says at least four cases of residential theft are keeping officers busy.
In neighborhoods near Golf Center Parkway South of Avenue 42 foreclosed and otherwise vacant homes have been hit by thieves. They don't need to get inside, what they have been taking are parts of air conditioning units, including copper wire. Indio police have increased patrols in this area.
To La Quinta now, police working a residential burglary. On the 78400 block of Terra Cota, someone managed to gain entry to a garage of a home. They took several unidentified object from a car that was parked inside that garage.
And now to Palm Springs where police are working a couple of residential burglaries. on the 2000 block of Camino Parocela someone gained entrance to a home through a locked window. The thief got away with a large amount of jewelry, but, that jewelry has already been returned to its owner, and a burglary suspect is under arrest.
And on the 300 block of West Arenas Road, a home was entered by unknown means a laptop computer was taken.
And we wrap things up in Palm Springs with a hotel burglary. On the 1200 block of E. Palm Canyon Dr.
Among the items taken were a dust ruffle, toilet paper holder, tissue dispenser, and Nintendo control box. An investigation is underway to see if the items were taken by the last person to occupy the room, or by someone else.
