Brooke Beare anchors the 5, 6, 6:30 and 11 p.m. newscasts weeknights on KPSP Local 2.
Brooke earned Emmy nominations for her live reports on the Southern California Wildfires in 2007, and for an investigative story on prostitution in Palm Springs. She and co-anchor Kris Long were also recognized at the International Hispanic Awards as Anchors of the Year.
Brooke's enthusiasm for journalism took hold as an editor of her high school newspaper, but blossomed at the University of Southern California, where she graduated with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Cinema.
The Lone Star State brought Brooke her first two jobs in broadcasting, and such memorable experiences as interviewing former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and covering the breakup of Space Shuttle Columbia over East Texas.
Brooke joined the news team at KPSP in 2003, quickly establishing a reputation as a thorough and dedicated reporter. During her time in the Coachella Valley, Brooke broke several high profile stories, including the naming of convicted murderer Joseph Duncan as the suspect in the kidnapping and murder of 9-year old Anthony Martinez of Beaumont. She also had the privilege of interviewing 2008 Republican Presidential Nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona, and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
Brooke left Palm Springs in 2007 to report for the Fox station in her hometown of San Diego. Although it was hard to say goodbye to the beach, one year later, Brooke got the opportunity to rejoin former colleague Kris Long as co-anchor of KPSP Local 2's evening newscasts.
"I couldn't resist," said Brooke. "The situation was ideal!"
While attending the Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2004, Brooke met her husband, a Valley police officer. They enjoy traveling, hiking and volunteer work. They've completed one half-marathon together, as well as numerous shorter runs benefiting organizations like Martha's Village and Kitchen, and the Pat Tillman Memorial Foundation. Check in on what she's doing any given week
