About 20 volunteers from KPSP Local 2, the Palm Springs Police Officers Association, and the city of Palm Springs Office of Sustainability partnered with Habitat for Humanity on Saturday to improve the exterior of a home of a disabled couple, James Peron and Sherrol Voight.
By the end of the day the volunteers had moved some 15 tons of earth, and filled several large dumpsters with yard waste.
Peron is a Vietnam Veteran, who recently became paralyzed because of illness, and the exterior of the home just became too much for the couple to keep up told us... "it's so beautiful everybody helping it touches my heart," said Peron.
"This makes me feel stronger, because I'm not gonna be laying in this bed the rest of my life."
