Police say alcohol may have been a factor in a single-vehicle accident that caused a parking structure to collapse Thursday night in Palm Desert, according to reports.
An SUV was reportedly speeding southbound on a frontage road near the 73900 block of Highway 111 at around 9:30 p.m. when it lost control, hit a support beam and caused the parking structure to collapse.
The two occupants - a male and a female - fled the scene on foot, but were later captured by police, reports indicated.
They were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone who has information is urged to call police at (760) 836-3215.
