Actors Kurt Russell and Dennis Quaid, along with musician Alice Cooper, will be among the celebrities to participate in the 51st annual Bob Hope Classic in January, it was announced Monday.
The tournament is set for Jan. 18-24 at the Palmer Private Course at PGA West and other locations in La Quinta, said tournament spokesman Toby Zwikel.
PGA Tour professional Pat Perez will return to defend his Bob Hope Classic title, Zwikel said, noting that the tournament has a $5 million purse.
Other celebrities lined up to take part include Tampa Bay third-baseman Evan Longoria, former baseball and football star Bo Jackson and singers Michael Bolton and Clay Walker.
The five-day tournament will be broadcast on the Golf Channel. Over the past 50 years, the tournament's organizers have donated more than $47 million to charities throughout the Coachella Valley, Zwikel said.
Celebrity play will begin on Jan. 20 at the SilverRock Resort and then move to the La Quinta Country Club on Jan. 21, the Nicklaus Private Course on
Jan. 22 and the Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA West on Jan. 23. The final round will be held at the Palmer Private Course on Jan. 24.
