Friday, Nov. 27-Jan. 1, in Cathedral CityThe estimated 50,000 LED lights and 24-foot Christmas Tree that are part of a christmas lights show hosted by a Cathedral City homeowner will be turned on Nov. 27, and light shows will run daily through Jan. 1. The home is located a few blocks from Minerva Road's "Candy Cane Lane," between Maravilla and Vista Chino. You can
learn more and watch the show live by clicking here.Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Palm SpringsA tree lighting ceremony will be held in front of Palm Springs City Hall, featuring traditional carols performed by the Palm Springs High School Choir, free cookies, hot chocolate and carriage rides. Santa Claus is also expected to ride in on a fire truck.
Thursday, Dec. 3, in Cathedral CityThe city will host its annual tree lighting event from 6-8pm, in the Town Square. Those scheduled to make an appearance include the California Desert Chorale, the United States Marine Corps Band, and Santa Claus. The Cathedral City Fire Department will hand out candy canes to children in attendance and the Children's Discovery Museum will have a holiday art project for them. To attend, each person is asked to bring one can or box of non-perishable food that will go to the F.I.N.D. (Food In Need of Distribution) food bank.
Thursday, Dec. 3, in IndioAt 6pm in front of City Hall, the tree will be lit in Indio. The tree lighting ceremony will feature live entertainment, free candy canes, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. LIVE reindeer will also be at the event. Also that night, the Tamale Festival carnival will be open until 10pm.
Friday, Dec. 4, in Palm DesertHead on over to the Palm Desert Visitors center for the lighting of a 12-foot wreath covered in LED lights. Santa Claus is scheduled to stop by, and there will be Christmas carolers dressed in traditional Victorian clothing. Refreshments will be served and activities will be available for children. The Visitor Center is located at the southwest corner of Highway 111 and west El Paseo.
Saturday, Dec. 5, in Indian WellsIt's the first ever tree lighting ceremony in the city of Indian Wells. It will take place at 6pm at City Hall and will feature a performance by members of the California Desert Chorale as well as free refreshments. The city's fire department will be on hand to accept new (unwrapped) toy donations for the Spark of Love Toy Drive. Call City Hall for more info: 760-346-2489.
Sunday, Dec. 6, in Palm SpringsCongresswoman Mary Bon-Mack will light the 50-foot tree at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway's annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Festivities begin at 5:30pm at the Mountain Station and will feature the Palm Springs High School Choir. 20 members of Friday Night Live, a program for young people in Riverside County that focuses on drug and alcohol-free entertainment, will also join Bono-Mack at the lighting.
