If you are looking for a new pet, this weekend will offer the perfect opportunity to meet your next best friend, as local animal shelters bring more than 100 dogs and cats to a multi-agency adoption fair in Palm Desert.

In what's being billed as a "super pet adoption fair," those in attendance will be able to meet all the animals brought by organizations including Coachella Valley Animal Campus (Thousand Palms facility), Animal Samaritans, Save A Pet, Humane Society of the Desert, Living Free, TLC, and the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, among others.
Kennels were set up Wednesday for Saturday's 'super pet fair.'

Organizers said it is the first ever local cooperative adoption fair and they hope to get the animals adopted to "forever" homes. It will run from 10am through 3pm Saturday, at BG Bird Gardens, 73-179 Joshua Tree, in Palm Desert.

Some highlights of the fair will include "Animal Alley," a collection of animal oriented boutiques, grooming and training tips, a magician and a mime to entertain, a pet psychic, micro-chipping with registration, and food. Health check screenings will also be included in the adoption process by local veternarians.

Anyone is welcome to attend the event for a donation of $5 per person. Early birds will luck out, as organizers said goodie bags filled with animal products will be given out while supplies last.
