Activists across the nation are kicked off a host of counter Tea Parties called Coffee Parties Saturday and Sunday.
The "Coffee Party USA" movement began on the social networking site Facebook as a way to diffuse some of what they perceive as hot-headed rhetoric revolving around issues such as health care reform.
The founder of the movement, Annabel Park, kicked off her local coffee party near the nation's capitol in Virginia.
Park said she wants to get people involved in the political processes without the angry divisiveness.
There are two Coffee Parties scheduled in the valley Sunday. One is in Palm Springs and the other is in Palm Desert.
