A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of 9.9 grams of methamphetamine for sale in Calimesa, a sheriff's lieutenant said Friday.
John Gould of Calimesa was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Thursday during a saturation patrol in the area of West Avenue L and Seventh Place, said Lt. Ross Koepp of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies were patrolling the area in response to complaints of possible illegal drug sales, Koepp said.
Deputies stopped Gould's vehicle for code violations and because it matched the description of a man and a vehicle reported to be involved in the drug activity, according to the lieutenant.
During the search, deputies found 15 baggies of a white powdery crystal substance, which was identified as methamphetamine, in a hidden compartment in the vehicle, Koepp said.
The meth had a street value of around $1,000, he said.
Gould was being held in lieu of $25,000.
