The Well in the Desert provides hot meals, food baskets, and a wide array of social services to those in need in the western end of the Coachella Valley. The organization was founded in 1986 to meet the needs of the working poor, the homeless, homebound seniors, and children who were facing the disease of hunger.
The Well in the Desert serves those who have no where else to turn; no roof over their head, working people who need a little more, seniors who have been forgotten, people living with AIDS/HIV, homeless mothers and their children, homeless Veterans, and those who have been forgotten by others, and families who toil daily at work to keep their children fed and healthy. They also serve those who never thought they could or would lose their job, their home, and their ability to live the once normal lives they were always used to.
Social Services are also provided from the Resource Center. Case management includes: referring clients to the Department of Social Services, assisting clients in completing applications and forms for jobs, services, medical care, and more, helping clients reconnect with family members in other states, assisting clients with writing a job resume, assisting in finding apartments and subsidized housing, assisting clients to obtain id cards, referring clients to homeless family programs and so much more.
No one is turned away who asks for help.
