Palm Desert, Calif., (February 24, 2010) – The Desert Cancer Foundation (DCF) received a $25,000 grant from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation. The organization was selected as the latest recipient of the KPSP Local 2 Coachella Valley Spotlight.
“The Desert Cancer Foundation is crucial to the fight against cancer in our local communities,” said Chris McGuire, Vice President of the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation. “We commend them for their unparalleled service in the Coachella Valley, and are proud to assist in their efforts.” McGuire presented the $25,000 check to cancer survivors and DCF Board and staff at the Bloch Cancer Survivors Park in Rancho Mirage.
DCF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting residents in the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities who need financial assistance in obtaining screening, diagnosis and treatment for cancer and allied diseases. DCF has paid the medical bills for hundreds of uninsured or underinsured cancer patients who cannot afford treatment.
“It is wonderful that DCF exists in the valley. So many are helped with the myriad of services they provide,” said Steve Minium, KPSP Local 2 Executive Director of News, New Media and Brand. “We are hopeful that the exposure DCF received this month will assist them exponentially by encouraging others to give and get involved with this life-changing organization.”
